It was a bit disappointing to hear that The Dark Knight Rises opened with a $160m worldwide, when it was gauged to be at $175m predicted by experts. Maybe it was because it wasn’t a 3D, a grave gaffe at the time when comic book rival The Avengers just recently made a fortune. Nevertheless, the movie still bags a lot of attention and we’re out with the season’s first lot of merchandize. When you first heard of EVA Air’s Hello Kitty airplane, did you think that it was the absolute height of commercialism? In fact, Japanese carrier ANA introduced a Pokémon themed airplane all the way back in 1999! Since then, they have been flying quite a few Poke planes over the years, and even added an enormous Boeing 777 last year. ANA is now reintroducing their Pokémon-painted plane onto routes. The airplane, starring Pikachu, will also feature most of our other favorite characters. The routes to get the cartoon jet will be domestic within Japan. Is this some secret formula to dealing with all those annoying crying babies on the plane?

Inspired by a dress from Alexander McQueen’s spring/summer 2008 collection, the gummy bear gown was designed and styled by TWELV’s editor-in-chief, Hissa Igarashi, and fashion editor, Sayuri Marakumi. Is it just me, or should candy be eaten not worn! Nevertheless, this is one stunning creation, and we have to say, it does honor the original! The gown was created to go on the magazine’s debut issue cover, and was modeled by Jessica Pitti. It could not have been an easy task, as this sweet dress weighed almost 220lbs! First, steel wire was twisted into the shape of a dress and then covered with a sheet of vinyl. Finally, each gummy bear was then glued on by hand in a colorful pattern.
