The Best Cook frying pan by Studio DizaynDepo makes you the king/queen of the kitchen

    Posted on June 13, 2012

There isn’t much to be said about a frying pan. These amazing utensils, responsible for some of the most delectable food all over the world, are in themselves, pretty boring! How do you make something as mundane as a frying pan something everyone would want to buy, irrespective of if they even need a new one? You play to everyone’s greatest weakness of course, themselves! Studio DizaynDepo designed the packaging for their brand new frying pan with the words SCOVO – “Best cook” right on it. Now who doesn’t like a bit of flattery! The package is made out of a material that imitates a mirror, so that you can see your reflection on the surface. If that isn’t enough to convince you to buy the pan, maybe making you feel like royalty will. Besides the gratifying title, they have also put in a little crown graphic on the package. This is positioned in a way that it sits on your head when you look at yourself in the mirror-like label.

Fujitsu’s transparent dual-sided OLED touch screen smartphone is sci-fi meets reality

    Posted on June 1, 2012

Fujitsu and NTT DoCoMo have taken the wraps off their latest sensational prototype at its 2012 Wireless Japan expo showing off a feature that can easily be dubbed as a never before conceptualized concept: a transparent dual-sided OLED touch screen Smartphone. The transparent, barely there touchscreen can be controlled from the front or rear of the phone. One could access the phone from the rear for selecting an icon or pulling down the notifications bar. The only setback that we see with the prototype is the 2.4 inch OLED screen which way too small for the specialized feature of the phone. If Fujitsu wants to market its phone well, they should be incorporating at least a 4-4.5” screen which would only make it more enjoyable for users.

The Kuru-Kuru Nabe self-stirring saucepan saves energy and reduces cooking time

    Posted on May 29, 2012

The Kuru-Kuru Nabe or self-stirring saucepan is an invention that nobody had the need to conceive. Really! However, the invention by a humble Japanese dentist took off, as if it always had to exist. The “Round-Round Pot” named Kuru-Kuru Nabe in Japan is the brainchild of Hideki Watanabe of south-west Japan, who invented the saucepan after experimenting with dental plaster at his surgery. He noticed that sculpting the inside surface of the pot into a spiral design changes how the contents of the pot heat up in several different ways. The advantages are many, so to speak. The spiral sides direct the flow in a circular fashion, creating the self-stirring effect. This makes the heating process more efficient, and has the potential for saving energy. This circular motion also means that the foam or skin forms in the center, making it easier to skim any residue off the top during cooking.

I agree, it doesn’t have super cool looks and is rather mundane looking, however, it manages to be a regular waterproof analog watch with a few modern twists. It is named after the Cuckoo clock and has the ability to connect to your iPhone using low-powered Bluetooth 4 which allows it to last for an year on a coin-cell very much like a real watch.
