Livescribe Sky WiFi Smartpen: Makes taking notes in class a breeze

    Posted on November 1, 2012

As much as we love our laptops, phones and tablets, the fact is that sometimes it really is easier to just write with a pen. When you are in class taking notes or in a meeting quickly jotting down salient points, you know you have to go home and turn this quick scribble into fair notes on your computer. With the Livescribe Sky WiFi Smartpen, you can leave all the dirty work to the pen itself! That’s right, this incredible pen allows you to record everything that is said in your meetings or lectures with crisp, clear sound, as well as transcribes your written notes into digital form. It is equipped with Wi-Fi, which means all your notes and audio are automatically transferred and securely stored in your Evernote account. Anytime you want to hear something again, all you have to so is tap a particular part of your notes, and the pen will replay the audio from that moment in time. Recharging the pen is a matter of connecting it to a Micro-USB cable. The pen writes with the help of ink cartridges, which can be easily replaced once over. Of course, the pen has to be paired with a special “micro-dot” paper.

    Posted on November 1, 2012

Halloween Doll asylum, a collection of 700 macabre dolls has brought back some of the most haunting childhood memories most of which revolve around dolls. It’s lasted long enough for me to give up dolls altogether and not buy any for my Lil baby girl either (she’s clueless about how dangerous these seemingly cute things can be with their big scary eyes ogling you at night).

Japanese Automaker Honda Fit She’s grants Young and Fresh Skin

    Posted on October 31, 2012

At the risk of sounding cynical I have to admit that it’s difficult to trust beauty products that claim they rejuvenate skin beyond belief and repair your skin to make wrinkles and fine lines vanish, so trusting a car, case in point Honda’s Fit She’s to make you look young and fresh is a far cry. Currently available only in Japan, the make targets Japanese women promising them younger and healthier skin thanks to their automobile. Honda Fit She’s windshield apparently blocks up to 99% of UV rays and with the aid of Plasmacluster” AC system, the specially-treated air is improving their skin quality as they drive.

Pumpktris: The Pumpkin on which you can play Tetris

    Posted on October 30, 2012

Just when you thought it was safe to leave the pumpkin in the living room with all your video games, you wake up in the morning to find that Tetris seduced pumpkin, which resulted in the unholy Pumpktris! Help, they are taking over the geeky world! Jokes aside, we think the Pumpktris is actually pretty awesome. It is basically a fully playable game of Tetris actually embedded in a real carved pumpkin! How cool! It comes with 128 embedded LEDs serving as the display, while the stem acts as the controller. The entire process looks long and complicated, but if you are the type who knows your way around LEDs, wires, matrixes and codes, you may be able to replicate this one at home. The game of Pumpktris took 128 LEDs, 256 pieces of heat-shrink tubing, and 313 solder joints to complete. The maker took more than twelve hours over a period of a week and a half to complete his project.

Apron Alert: The apron that tweets about your meal

    Posted on October 29, 2012

Modern technology has all but taken over our lives. Parents everywhere face the hard task of battling with their kid’s phones and computers for their attention. Here is a fun new way to make meal time more interactive; and more importantly, give you the means to talk to your kids in a language they understand best. The folks at Smart Design’s Interaction Lab have come up with the whimsical and quirky Apron Alert, which is basically an apron that tweets the status of lunch out to the world! Incredible, right! The Apron Alert project is a concept that uses wireless XBee radios attached to Lilypad Arduinos. These “smart” aprons can sense when you have put on the apron (assumedly to begin cooking the meal), and when you have taken it off. Accordingly, the apron then sends out automatic tweets or text messages, letting people know that the meal prep has begun, and then another when you take it off letting them know that the meal is ready.
