Athletes could be tweeting on court in 2016 with the Social Media Shoe
There’s no denying the fact that lay men and sportsmen alike are addicted to social media. With everything right from vending machines to widgets being designed exclusively for Tweeting, we have every reason to embrace communication in a big way. Just in time for Olympics, Adidas has unveiled a shoe that can receive tweets. The German manufacturer has taken the adiPower Barricade shoe and turned it into a Social Media Shoe. The sneakers has been outfitted with an Arduino unit, an external LCD to display information to user and a customized software that polls the Twitter API’s to share specific data on the shoe screen.
The three iconic stripes of the shoes have also been embedded with LED lighting and colors are controllable via remote control. The shoe is going to be mass produced by Adidas sometime in 2016 and every athlete might have it on then, to receive tweets from their fans all over. Rambler concept shoes unveiled in 2010 were all about tweets too.
