Balloon Dress, Fragile yet Wearable
Who doesn’t love balloons? Everybody does and when you see pretty girls look drop-dead gorgeous in these balloon dresses by Japanese Artist Rie Hosokai the only thing you love more are pins. Moving on, the dresses are a visual treat owing do the use of the most unusual kind of fabric that is skilfully woven to creat the larger-than-life effect. They say the work was produced through a custom type ‘knitting’ of white balloons to gradually build a fragile, but wearable frock. The dress in question was constructed as part of ‘piece for peace’ – a charity art exhibition at parco gallery in tokyo until the 9th of january, 2013.

The other dresses deserve just as special a mention as they are each unique masterpieces and praiseworthy. Hosokai’s partner, takashi kawada has immaculately captured the beauty of the balloon dresses.
