Sony’s previously announced Xperia S phone has two new accompaniments- the Xperia P and Xperia U, all of which go under the banner of Sony’s new “Xperia NXT” brand. Apparently, each of these phones has a unique personality, with all three models having different key features. The Xperia S with its large 4.3 inch screen and 720p resolution display is apt for watching HD content, while the 4-inch Xperia P has the same 720p resolution display and also a new technology called “White Magic” that makes everything ideal for outdoor viewing. The Xperia P can be plugged into a dock to be viewed on a TV or be controlled via keyboard and mouse. The Xperia U touts the smallest screen size of 3.5 inches, and it is powered by a 1GHz processor as well as “xLoud” sound processing, which will provide better sound quality.

All the phones in the Xperia NXT brand feature the near-field communication (NFC), which will function with Sony’s Xperia Smart Tags, modules that allows you to change your phone’s settings easily. The Xperia S is already shipping globally, while the P and U models should show up in the second quarter.

Sony Mobiles portfolio of non-Ericsson branded phones has just received two more additions, though they aren’t much more than variations than the already-announced Xperia S.
