New Zealand flaunts Doctor Who and Transformer Coins as Legal Tender

New Zealand has its own set of Doctor who’s Tardis and Transformer coins and believe it or not its actually legal tender. This news comes straight to you from New Zealand mint and that makes NZ one if the coolest country in the world. There are three coins divided into two sets, one is the Doctor Who coin and Optimus Prime and Megatron in a two-pack. These coins are crafted out of .999 silver, with the Doctor Who one measuring 40.1mm in diameter and the Transformers 40.7mm.


It may also interest you to know that to mark the 50 th anniversary of Doctor Who the words “Doctor Who 50th Anniversary 1963 – 2013″ are engraved on the Doctor Who coin.


These exclusive coins will be minted in a limited run, with 10,000 Doctor Who coins and 5000 for the Transformers. The transformer coin sell for $224 unfortunately the Doctor Who coins say ‘coming soon’. These coins have a face value of $NZ2.
