Iconic Stormtrooper Helmet gets artistic reimagining for charity exibition

Not only is the one of the most iconic and recognizable looks in the whole world, but it has also unabashedly stood for everything evil; until now that is! Not only is the Stormtrooper Helmet getting a few gorgeous designer makeovers, it will be doing so in the course of aiding a very worthy charity. The project Art Wars, created by Art Below founder Ben Moore in collaboration with Andrew Ainsworth, the creator of the original Stormtrooper, will feature the helmets in all new avatars. Famous artists from around the world, like Damien Hirst, the Chapman Brothers, David Bailey, Mr. Brainwash, Paul Fryer, Joana Vasconcelos and even Ben Moore and Andrew Ainsworth have all contributed pieces. Proceeds from the Art Wars exhibition and auction go to the ‘Missing Tom’ fund, which was set up to raise money to support the search for Thomas Moore, who will be missing for 10 years this year.

Art Wars will be unveiled at London’s annual Strarta Art Fair at the Saatchi Gallery between 9th and 13th October 2013. After that, they will be featured in a series of billboards in the Regent’s Park Underground station in conjunction with the Frieze Art Fair, which will be held in Regent’s Park October 17th to 20th. The helmets will then be auctioned off, with the proceeds going to Missing Tom.
